About

 Department of Education of Namrup College was stared in the year 1973. The Department started Major course in the year 2003. The Department offers UG Programme in Education both Honours  and Non-Honours (six semester course) under Dibrugarh University. The Department of Education also offers HS Course under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.

            The Department has the amenities of Psychological Laboratory Practical for B.A. Honours students. From  2014 to 2019 Field Studies were conducted every year  by the B.A. (Major) students on the topics of Literacy Census, Environment awareness, Sarva Shiksha Abhijan, Socio-Economic Status covering  some of the selected villages of Namrup and Joypur.

             The Department has a small library with few number of subject related books. Some books are bought by the teachers and some are sent by the book publishers as specimen copy. These books are used by the teachers and students.

            At present the department has three full time teachers and one contractual teacher. All the teachers of the department are sincerely engaged in academic pursuits and try to create a healthy learning atmosphere.

  Morning Assembly: Best Practice On 10 th , 11th & 13th October 2025, a morning assembly was conducted by the students of the Department of Education at Namrup College. Morning Assembly was started with a prayer and followed by news headlines and riddles. A short speech was delivered on Prof. Debashis Chatterjee’s precious book,  Invincible Arjuna,   by the HoD, Dept. of Education, Namrup College. The book   Invincible Arjuna  retold the story of Arjuna as per the Mahabharata. The book reveals that Arjuna was the greatest archer. His ability to concentrate helps him succeed.

HIV/AIDS awareness Programme

 A HIV/AIDS awareness programme was held on 13 oct 2025 at digital classroom of Namrup College. The programme was organized by NSS unit Namrup College in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club Namrup College. Two Resource Person from AIDS control society, Dibrugarh District was attened in the meeting. Principal, Dr. Durga Prasad Gogoi sir inagurated the meeting. Mr. Srobon Konwar, Counsellor of AIDS control Society spoke about AIDS- it’s Causes, affect and remedial measures .
